Actress Rhian Ramos and beauty queen Michelle Dee are facing allegations of serious illegal detention and torture following a complaint filed by Ramos’ former driver and personal assistant. Another beauty queen was also named in the complaint.
The complainant, who uses the alias “Totoy,” claimed the alleged incident stemmed from accusations that he possessed sensitive photographs belonging to Ramos. In an interview aired on TV Patrol, Totoy said he was held inside a condominium unit for three days after being accused of stealing the photos.
According to Totoy, he was subjected to physical abuse during the alleged detention. He claimed he was stripped, punished, and doused with alcohol.
Totoy further alleged that, in an attempt to escape, he jumped from a window located on the 39th floor of the building. He said, however, that two bodyguards managed to catch him and bring him back inside the unit.
Following the incident, Totoy was escorted to police custody, where a complaint for qualified theft was filed against him before the Makati Office of the Prosecutor. He was detained but later released on January 22 after prosecutors dismissed the theft complaint.
In response, legal counsel for Ramos and Dee denied the allegations. In a statement, their lawyer said their clients have yet to receive an official copy of the complaint allegedly filed before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
“Our clients will respond accordingly once they receive a copy of the complaint,” the statement said.
The lawyer also denied that any illegal detention took place, stating that Totoy was a resident of the condominium due to his role as Ramos’ driver. According to the statement, the last interaction between the parties involved a qualified theft case filed by Michelle Dee against Totoy, which he allegedly admitted to and partially resolved by returning some items.
The defense further suggested that the new complaint may have been filed as retaliation for the earlier theft case, describing it as a vindictive move rather than a legitimate claim.
As of this writing, the other beauty queen named in the complaint has yet to issue a public statement regarding the allegations.
